FACTS ABOUT PROSTATE CANCER--"Common & Deadly"
- Most frequently diagnosed cancer in men (& more common than breast cancer in women)
- 2nd highest death rate for cancer in men (lung is higher)
- African Americans have higher incidence & higher death rates than white males
- Family history of prostate cancer increases the risk of occurrene
- Risk of occurrence increases with age
- Early stage prostate cancer usually has no symptoms
- Early detection saves lives
- GET TESTED Starting at age 45 (age 40 if you have any of the above risk factors) get an annual prostate check-up (PSA blood test and digital exam) by your family doctor
- Treatment options are age & situation dependent, and include: surgery, external beam radiation, internal (seed) radiation, cryosurgery, chemotherapy, and hormonal treatment

- Purpose is Education and Support for prostate cancer survivors and their spouses
- Bi-monthly meetings include sharing time and a speaker-usually a medical doctor
- Provides literature for the newly diagnosed and all other survivors
- Us TOO PEORIA is not affiliated with any hospital or medical group
- Us TOO PEORIA does not promote any particular product or treatment alternative
